Japanese style Cross Back apron for L
Here we are, One is down on the Christmas item list.
A Japanese style Cross Back apron for L.
This is me borrowing her apron for photo :)
I always hesitate when doing sewing for someone else that is not ME as I don’t really know what the person’s favourite styles/size and importantly does he/she need the item?
Therefore, the best thing that I could think of is making an apron for my special L. so she can wear it around the kitchen.
Pattern: I downloaded the free PDF pattern from Porcupine Patterns https://porcupinepatterns.com/ a/downloads/-/ fe86cf7ec9ee05a2/ 616eba5ddb0c2370. Everything was pretty smooth apart from the step that I accidentally cut the front trap pieces separately, which were supposed to connect with the front part of the apron in one piece. It was not a big deal as I then stitched the trap pieces together on every side in the apron’s front. I inserted bias tapes pretty much around all areas of the apron. I paid around $1.00 for the bias tape from the Green Shed thrift store as I thought that it would save me much more time than making all the tapes by myself.
Fabric: 2 meters of Japanese Kokka fabric with 1.1 width from The Drapery. The fabric is cotton linen blend with 80% linen and 20%. It has apple print in lime colour with a medium weight so It should be perfect for household item craft like throw cushion, aprons…ect.
Modification: To fit L’s height, I will need to shorten the front hem about a few centimeters.
I am very exciting to see L in the lovely apron. I really hope it would fit her, if not I would wear it, no problem lol.
Update: I have added a kangaroo pocket for the finished look. Now it is wrapped up for Christmas present next week.
